Remote Learning

Our approach to Remote Learning 

Attendance in school is essential to children’s learning and well-being. Remote education may be considered in exceptional circumstances when a child cannot attend school but is well enough to learn, or when the school cannot open safely due to local or national restrictions. It will normally be a short-term arrangement, supporting a return to school as soon as possible.

Where remote education is appropriate, we will explain to parents and carers how to access learning, what children are expected to complete and how staff will provide support and feedback. Activities will reflect children’s age, needs and curriculum, including a Maths and English activity as well and some learning in the foundation subjects. 

We will work with families to support children with special educational needs and disabilities and discuss alternative arrangements where access to a suitable device or the internet is difficult.

Our safeguarding and online safety expectations continue to apply during remote learning. Parents and carers should contact the school office for advice about remote education or difficulties accessing learning.

 

Be prepared

Check your child can login to Google Classroom.

To do this you should:

1. Gsuite works best with Google Chrome so you may need to download it first.
2. Open Chrome and you should see a page like this (if you already use it, go to step 3).
3. A Chrome User account has already been made for your child so you can click on sign in or click the ‘person’ icon in the top right and add a user.
4. Your child’s username is their USO @gsuite.st-marks.ealing.sch.uk
   For example: achild.307@gsuite.st-marks.ealing.sch.uk
5. They then need to enter the password the school has given them.
   (It is the same as their computing password)
6. Once they have logged in the easiest way to access the Google suite of tools is by clicking the 9 button icon (the Waffle) in the top right hand corner.
7. From there, you can access Google Classroom. If it is not easily found
   go to: classroom.google.com
