Geography
Teaching geography at St Mark’s
We want to develop pupils’ love and fascination for the people, places and processes that make up our diverse planet. Our aim is for pupils to gain a rich knowledge and understanding of the world and develop a range of practical skills and knowledge to help them explore the human and physical features around them. From the development of early geographical concepts in the EYFS to explicit geography teaching from Years 1-6, pupils will develop a sound understanding of the different strands of geography and be able to explain the Earth’s key physical and human processes. All children in the school will be able to speak confidently about their geography learning using the correct vocabulary. Pupils will be inquisitive about the world around them and through our curriculum theme, Tomorrow’s World, will develop an understanding of changes to the world’s features over time and their role, as global citizens, in shaping the planet of the future.
