Curriculum Core Values
Through consultation with staff, parents and pupils we have developed a curriculum centred around these four key values. Each value is woven through all areas of learning with the aim of developing rounded, outward facing pupils who believe they can make a difference in the world around them and leave our school well equipped with the knowledge, skills and passion to do so.

Our state of mind affects both our mental and physical health. We recognise the importance and benefits of engaging in regular physical activity which develops into lifelong habits. Through our curriculum we will promote children’s collaborative skills and enjoyment of physical activity. Our children will be the best they can be by facing challenges with mental strength, perseverance, resilience and determination.

By developing a deep understanding of historical, cultural, religious and scientific legacies our children will have a strong sense of not only their own identity, but also be able to engage with other identities and cultures. This will enable our children to recognise and challenge discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice.

That everybody has the same basic rights and to be treated with equity is our core belief. Children will understand that fairness may not always mean being treated equally; instead understanding that individuals should receive what they need in order to be successful. Children will understand their roles and responsibilities with a system such a school or wider society. They will be morally principled role models who stand up for their rights and those of others.

Understanding the impact of our actions on our planet, both now and in the future is fundamental to global sustainability. Children will understand the importance of how we share and use the world’s resources fairly and responsibly. Promoting environmentally responsible living while exploring peoples’ dependencies on the environment will highlight how personal choice and the actions we take now can change the future.
